I've been a leader in the United States Senate on what we need to do to get rid of the cash bail system in America.
And why? Because I know the system from the inside. And I know that when we are talking about
the issue of bail,

every day in America for days, weeks, months, even years, waiting to go to trial simply because they can't afford to pay the money
to bail out.
